First Glimpse

Posted by: Jules on: February 22, 2009

The artist I’m working with just emailed me some of his drafts and I’m so excited! It’s not finalized yet but here is my favorite draft:

What do you guys think? I’ve asked him to make them a little more simple with fewer details – more like coloring book line drawings than portraits. But I think [...]

Honorable Mention

Posted by: Jules on: February 20, 2009

So how it works is that stamp companies select people to be members of their design teams. The DT members get all the new releases first and show sneak peeks on their blogs to get people excited about the upcoming release. Some companies have both permanent design teams and also guest designers who join the [...]

Daddy’s Girl

Posted by: Jules on: February 19, 2009

First, I’m glad you guys like the StoryPeople as much as I do. I wasn’t sure how widespread they were since they come from a pretty small town in Iowa. I think I’ll add a StoryPeople quote to the end of my entries here for a while.

The other day I was talking to my mother who [...]

Ten Things Tuesday – Story People Edition

Posted by: Jules on: February 17, 2009

There’s a wonderful artist/craftsman/poet here in Iowa who creates Story People. The crudeness of the art is not usually my cup of tea, but there’s something about these that really attract me. He creates wood sculptures out of reclaimed wood but also sells prints and other decorative items with his sayings on them. Here are [...]

Shameless Self Promotion

Posted by: Jules on: February 15, 2009

I have some (ok, a couple) new readers (Hey, New Readers!) so I wanted to let them know I have another blog where I post my paper creations: Good Kardma by Jules.
Many of the items I post are available for sale (or I can recreate them if someone else has already purchased it) and I [...]

Quarantine

Posted by: Jules on: February 14, 2009

Be careful out there, kids, I think there’s a bad case of The Grumps going around. I know I’ve caught the bug and most everyone I know is suffering from the condition as well. Could be cabin fever, could be due to the weird weather. Eh, who cares what caused it but it seems to [...]

My Dirty Little Secret

Posted by: Jules on: February 10, 2009

As I’ve mentioned recently, I’m on a new drug regimen and am feeling MUCH better. I’m getting a much needed break from the clinical depression I’ve suffered from since I was a child. So now it’s time for me to admit something.
There is a part of me that does not want to get better.

I know, [...]

Ok, I think I’ve made a preliminary decision. Just for the record, I’m not usually indecisive but I really want to choose a good name because hopefully I’ll have to live with it for a long time.

Chili’s idea of “Off the Beaten Path” resonated with me right away. I also really like, like Dingo, the tag [...]

2. Me Too: Cards for EVERY body   (submitted by Chili)
3. Just Like Me
4. Mirror Images
5. Celebrate You
6. Images [...]

Why Don’t We Bend Over …

Posted by: Jules on: February 6, 2009

…so it’s easier for you to fuck us. Crude, I know, but that’s exactly how I feel.

So, we had ourselves a little floody flood last June that wiped out ten square miles of my city. Just a little extra water around the place. Our city and state officials have not been very good about convincing Washington [...]
