You’re Going to What?!

Posted by: Jules on: May 29, 2008

Ok, I need some help with this one. I just saw on the news that all the children from the FLDS polygamist community are being returned to their parents. Um, say what?!

Do I think the powers that be went about this the right way? No. Do I think it’s fair to let a large group [...]

Done!

I’ve finally posted my list of 100 songs – just click on the link in the upper right. I haven’t proof-read it yet so there are probably some errors.

Andrew Jackson for Breakfast

Posted by: Jules on: May 27, 2008

I’ve been sick lately with a sinus infection and chest cold so it’s difficult for me to breathe if I sleep in bed; plus it makes my sinus pain worse. In an effort to get some sleep, I decided to sleep in my recliner last night. Which meant my dog-daughter, Daisy, had run of house instead [...]

This, That, and the Other

Posted by: Jules on: May 23, 2008

That’s right – you can see from my title that I’m old school when it comes to comma usage. I find it troubling when people omit the comma prior to “and” in a list. I know it’s now considered correct either way but I think it adds clarity and I’m not budging. So there.
Welcome to [...]

To Tell or Not to Tell?

Posted by: Jules on: May 21, 2008

I’ve read a few different blogs lately whose authors question their decision to tell their family and/or friends about their blogs. People start asking the authors to censor themselves in order protect their privacy. At that point you start getting yourself into all kinds of sticky wickets and the blog becomes more of a burden than [...]

Chartreuse Thumb

I’m not a gardener. I like pretty flowers but otherwise I have a very minimal interest in flora. This fact makes me the black sheep of the family (along with all the other things that make me an idiosyncratic [I LOVE that word!] family member). I remember being dragged to greenhouses to look at boring plant [...]

Flamingo!

Posted by: Jules on: May 19, 2008

I’m so excited about this I just had to share! My livingroom and kitchen are decorated in retro 1950’s colors and decor so I’m always on the lookout for vintage pieces from that era. Today I found this flamingo planter from the 50’s and I won it!

Isn’t it the most beautiful thing ever?! I can’t [...]

Artful Reflections

Posted by: Jules on: May 18, 2008

Phew! This past week I’ve been cramming for an art sale so I’ve gotten very little sleep and my hands are stained and sore. And I’m feeling a little relieved this evening to be relaxing without feelings of guilt for not stepping in my craft room all day today.

My mother paints watercolor pictures and also [...]

Mothers

Posted by: Jules on: May 11, 2008

Like many people, I have been thinking about mothers and motherhood today. I love my mother and enjoy spending time with her. Although I’ve always loved my mother, we’ve become closer in the last few years and I’m so grateful for that. Unfortunately it was the death of my father that created an opportunity for [...]

Anger

Posted by: Jules on: May 9, 2008

I haven’t written in a while because I just haven’t been that inspired by anything. But I read a couple of posts on other blogs about how people express their anger and it got me thinking. At the moment I don’t remember exactly where I read these things so I’m not going to provide links, [...]
